C-33 A [c-33a] Human Cervical Cancer Cells

C-33 A cell line is N Auersperg is one of a series of cell lines (see ATCC CRL-1594 and ATCC CRL-1595) established from cervical cancer sections. The samples were taken from a 66-year-old female patient. The cells showed a sub-diploid karyotype and epithelial cell morphology at the beginning. Karyotype instability can be observed in continuous passage. Retinoblastoma protein (pRB) exists, but its size is abnormal. P53 expression was up-regulated, and a point mutation at codon 273 led to the replacement of Arg ->Cys. Human papillomavirus DNA and RNA were negative.
