Products Description

The cells were derived from the left temporal lobe glioma tissue of a 76-year-old Caucasian male. They have microvilli and no desmosomes. They were unable to form tumors in immunosuppressed mice and were identified as mycoplasma-free and STR-free. This is a marked Luc cell line.

Luciferases are oxidases that emit light in the presence of a substrate (D-luciferin) in an organism, a process known as bioluminescence. The most common luciferase gene is from a family of light-producing enzymes called firefly luciferases1,2. In preclinical research, small animal live imaging plays a vital role in visualizing physiological processes, disease progression, and therapeutic development. Luciferase (luc)-activated cell lines provide a simple, high-throughput, and robust method for quantitatively assessing tumor burden and tumor response to therapy in test animals using bioluminescence imaging (BLI)1,2.


Luc cell labeling offers several advantages, such as: (1) Non-invasive real-time whole-body in vivo tumor monitoring and imaging (2) Continuous assessment of tumor progression and treatment response in the same animal (3) Metastasis assessment (4) Reduced need for animal sacrifice

Tissue and Cell Type: Brain Morphology: Fibroblast-like, adherent growth medium and additives/Complete Growth Medium and Culture Conditions: 90% DMEM (MD0100) + 10% fetal bovine serum (SD0200) + G/A (SD0038) DMEM complete medium (Cat.
