266-6 Mouse Pancreatic Acinar Carcinoma Cells

266-6 was established by Robert E. Hammer in 1985 with an adult mouse acinar pancreas. Tumor cells were induced by elastase I/SV-40t antigen fusion gene. The receptor expresses acetylcholine and muscarine. These cells maintain partial differentiation phenotype and express detectable levels of digestive enzymes mRNAs. The cells reacted to methacholine and cholecystokinin, but did not react to substance P, secretin or vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP). Cells carry elastase/neomycin transgene.
