DU145 Human Prostate Cancer Cells

Human prostate cancer cell DU 145 was established from the brain metastasis of a 69-year-old white prostate cancer patient. The cell line could hardly detect hormone sensitivity, only acid phosphatase was weakly positive, and the isolated cells could form clones in soft agar. The cell does not express prostate antibody. Microvilli, microfilaments and desmosomes, mitochondria, well-developed Golgi bodies and heterolysosomes were found in the ultrastructure analysis of the cell line and primitive tumor cells.
