Kasumi-1 Human Erythroleukemia Cells

This is a leukemia cell line with chromosome 8 and 21 translocation. This translocation juxtaposes AML1 with ETO (or MTG8) gene to produce fusion gene AML1-ETO (also known as AML1-mtg or RUNX1-CBF2T1). Therefore, cells produce chimeric AML1-ETO protein. The protein down-regulates the binding activity of CEBPA mRNA, protein and DNA, which is essential for the differentiation of granulocytes. In the proliferation experiment, the cultured cells reacted to interleukin-3 (IL-3), interleukin-6, granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) and granulocyte acrophage CSF (GM-CSF), but did not react to IL-1 and IL-5.

The cells need about two weeks to resume normal growth after resuscitation. It was identified as free of mycoplasma/STR and put into storage.
