Products Description

HuH-7 cells are an epithelioid oncogenic cell line originally taken from a liver tumor of a 57 year old Japanese male in 1982. The HuH-7 cell line and its derivatives derived from human liver cancer have been widely used as a convenient experimental substitute for primary liver cells in research. Especially, they have played an important role in the study of hepatitis C and have been used as host cells for virus replication in vitro. HuH-7 cells play a crucial role in the research of hepatitis C, especially in drug development. Before 2005, researchers were unable to cultivate the hepatitis C virus in the laboratory, making it difficult to test potential candidate drugs. The introduction of the HuH-7 cell line changed this. These cells highly allow for the replication of hepatitis C virus, making them an ideal choice for in vitro testing. By using HuH-7 cells, researchers were able to screen candidate drugs for combating laboratory cultured hepatitis C, paving the way for the development of new antiviral drugs. Unlike other established human liver cancer cell lines, HuH-7 cells can reproduce in chemically defined media containing trace amounts of selenium instead of serum. This allows for systematic research on the in vitro effects of various compounds on their growth and metabolism. Most HuH-7 cells have a chromosome number between 55 and 63, and typically grow into 2D monolayers. The growth medium of HuH-7 cells should be updated 2-3 times a week, or updated according to the pH of the medium, and the cell fusion degree should be maintained between 30% and 90%. The doubling time of these cells is 24 to 50 hours. Compared to HepG2 cells commonly used as models for studying the synthesis and secretion of human apoB-100, Huh-7 cells were used as alternative models, assuming that they are superior in certain aspects of lipoprotein metabolism, including VLDL secretion. However, it was found that Huh-7 cells, as a general model of human apoB100 lipoprotein metabolism, were not significantly different from HepG2 cells. Huh-7 Luc adopts a stable LUC labeling system, which does not require screening with puromycin. The cell fluorescence expression is stable and suitable for small animal imaging and other experiments.
