HCC38 human breast cancer cells

HCC38 originated from a 50-year-old white woman with a history of leiomyosarcoma; Her mother died of breast cancer. The cell line was started on April 27, 1992 and took 32 months to establish. HCC38 contains homozygous deletion at 3p12. At least 45 different derived chromosomes, including two large metacentric markers, were detected in most metaphase, and their length was about 1.5 times that of normal group a chromosomes. This is a super-triploid human cell line with a model chromosome number of 75. Homogeneous chromosomal regions and bicentric chromosomes were observed. Each pair of chromosomes has at least one rearrangement. No normal X chromosome and Y chromosome were found in QM staining, and HCC38 was positive for epithelial cell-specific markers such as glucoprotein 2 [EGP2] and cytokeratin 19, and negative for estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR). Her2 neu expression was negative, while p53 expression was positive. The tumor was classified as TMN stage IIB, grade 3, with 3/28 lymph node metastasis.
