293E [293 c18] Human embryonic kidney cells that stably express EBNA1

Human embryonic kidney cells stably expressing EBNA1 are 293E, also known as 293 c18, HEK293-EBNA, HEK 293E, 293-EBNA1, 293-EBNA, etc.
The 293E cell is a subclone derived from the original 293 cell. This cell retains many features of the parent 293 cells and, after engineering modification, inserts the EBNA-1 gene (Epstein-Barr virus nuclear antigen-1), enabling stable expression of the EBNA-1 protein. The EBNA-1 protein can interact with recombinant expression plasmids carrying the EB virus replication starting point (oriP), promoting plasmid replication in a free form within cells and enabling efficient expression of recombinant proteins. It is widely used in recombinant protein production and gene function research.
