MDA-MB-231 is from the pleural fluid of a 51-year-old female patient with metastatic breast adenocarcinoma. In nude mice and BALB/c mice treated with ALS, it can form poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma (grade III). This is the labeled Luc cell line.
Luciferase is an enzyme that emits light when there is a substrate (D-luciferin) in the organism. This process is called bioluminescence. The most common luciferase gene comes from a light producing enzyme family called firefly luciferase 1 and 2.
In preclinical studies, small animal living imaging plays a vital role in visualizing physiological processes, disease progression and treatment development. The cell line activated by luciferase (luc) provides a simple, high-throughput and robust method through bioluminescence imaging (BLI) 1,2, which can be used to quantitatively evaluate the tumor burden and tumor response to treatment in test animals.
Luc cell markers have many advantages, such as:
(1) Noninvasive real-time whole-body tumor monitoring and imaging
(2) Continuous evaluation of tumor progression and treatment response in the same animal
(3) Transfer assessment
(4) Reduce the need for animal sacrifice

Morphology: epithelial-like, adherent growth
Culture media and additives/Complete Growth Medium and Culture Conditions:
L-15 base (MD1100)+10% fetal bovine serum (SD0100)+1% GA (SD0038)

Gas phase: 100% air 37 ℃; 0% carbon dioxide
The second training method:
90% DMEM (MD0100)+10% fetal bovine serum (SD0100)+G/A (SD0038)
DMEM complete medium (article number: MD0101)
Gas phase: air, 95%; Carbon dioxide, 5%. Temperature: 37 ℃.
Freezing conditions: basic medium+5% DMSO+20% FBS (SD0200)
Complete cryopreservation solution: non-programmed cooling cell cryopreservation solution (low serum) (SD0001)
