Products Description
Cell culture has become one of the indispensable and important tools for both biomedical research and the development of bioactive agents and drugs. The major problem of eukaryotic cell culture is various potential microbial contamination, including fungi, yeasts and bacteria. Mycoplasma pollution is especially serious in bacterial infections. Unlike other bacterial infections, mycoplasma infection is not easy to find and can only be determined by special detection methods. Besides, mycoplasma infection is not sensitive to common antibiotics. The overall infection rate of mycoplasma in cell culture is about 30%. The best way to eliminate mycoplasma pollution is to discard the cultured cells, autoclave all instruments that contact cells, and resuscitate cells. However, in many cases, contaminated cells cannot be replaced, so it is very important to use specific antibiotics to eliminate mycoplasma contamination.
