HMC3 Human Microglia

It is extracted from fetal brain microglia. SV40 was immortalized and the immortalized human microglia retained the characteristics of primary microglia. It is not much different from other cell lines that can be passaged. It may represent a convenient biochemical analysis system for microglia function. As proved by previous experiments, they can also support subsequent transfection, so as to study the expression and regulation of various transfected genes in microglia. In the resting state, the microglial cell/macrophage marker IBA1 of HMC3 cells was strongly positive, the endotoxin receptor CD14 was positive, and the astrocyte marker GFAP was negative. The activated microglial markers MHCII, CD68 and CD11b were negative in HMC3 cells at rest, but were up-regulated after IFN-gamma activation (10 ng/ml, 24 h). It was identified as free of mycoplasma/STR and put into storage.
