C2C12 Mouse Myoblast

This cell line is D Yaffe and O Subclone of mouse myoblast cell line established by Saxel (constructed by H. Blau et al.). Sampling from mice, C3H strain, C2C12 cell line can differentiate under low serum starvation, form flexible myotubes and express characteristic myoproteins. For example, after treatment with bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2), the differentiation pathway changes from myoblasts to osteoblasts. The detection showed that the mouse pox virus (ECTV) was negative. After recovery, the cells do not tolerate long-term transportation, and there will be cell shedding and necrosis after mailing. If conditions permit, please use dry ice cold chain express, which can induce differentiation to form muscle fibers under the stimulation of 2% horse serum. It was put into storage after identification without mycoplasma.

Culture media and additives/Complete Growth Medium and Culture Conditions:

90% DMEM (MD0100)+10% fetal bovine serum (SD0200)+G/A (SD0038)

DMEM complete medium (article number: MD0101)

Gas phase: air, 95%; Carbon dioxide, 5%. Temperature: 37 ℃.

Freezing conditions: basic medium+5% DMSO+20% FBS (SD0200)

Complete cryopreservation solution: non-programmed cooling cell cryopreservation solution (low serum) (SD0001)

Note: C2C12 cells grow fast, the cell density should not be too high during culture, and the culture medium should be changed in time, otherwise it is easy to differentiate.
