BHK-21 Hamster Renal Fibroblasts

In March 1961, I.A. Macpherson and M.G.P. Stoker established the parent of BHK-21 (C-13) from 1-day-old hamsters. After 84 days of continuous culture, only 8 days of frozen storage were interrupted, and the No. 13 clone was established through single cell isolation. This cell line can be used as a transfection host to express the vector containing the selected and amplified DNA (such as Factor VIII, see ATCC CRL-8544). It was identified without mycoplasma

Morphology: Fibroblast-like, adherent growth

Culture media and additives/Complete Growth Medium and Culture Conditions:

90% MEM base (MD0300)+10% fetal bovine serum (SD0200)+1% G/A (SD0038)

Gas phase: air, 95%; Carbon dioxide, 5%. Temperature: 37 ℃.

Freezing conditions: basic medium+5% DMSO+20% FBS

Complete cryopreservation solution: non-programmed cooling cell cryopreservation solution (low serum) (SD0001)
