BIU-87 was founded in 1989 (Yu Lizhang, etc.). This cell line is derived from human papillary transitional epithelial carcinoma of the bladder, and usually uses 5 × 108 cells were inoculated subcutaneously in nude mice with 0.2ml and showed progressive tumor growth. The sarcoidosis of tumor was similar to the original tumor tissue. The doubling time of the 22nd generation cell population was 34 hours. Cells can grow on soft agar, and the cloning rate is 23%. BIU-87 cell line has agglutination reaction to ConA, WGA and PSL. Problem cell line: recognition error/contamination. It seems to be contaminated by non-human cells (PubMed=26116706). It was originally thought to be caused by a male patient's bladder cancer.
Morphology: epithelioid adherent growth
Complete Growth Medium and Culture Conditions
RPMI 1640 (w/o Hepes) (MD0200) +10%FBS(SD0200)+1%GA(SD0038)
Gas phase: air, 95%; Carbon dioxide, 5%. Temperature: 37 ℃.
Freezing conditions: basic medium+5% DMSO+20% FBS
Complete cryopreservation solution: non-programmed cooling cell cryopreservation solution (low serum) (SD0001)
