Products Description
Chinese hamster ovarian cells (xylotransferase I deficiency type) pgsA-745, also known as PgsA-745, pgsA745, CHO-745, Mutant 745, etc. This cell is a xylyltransferase-deficient mutant treated with a mutagenic agent (ethyl mesylate) of CHO-K1 cells and screened. In 1957, T. T. Puck and others established a spontaneous immortalized cell line from the living ovarian tissue of adult Chinese hamsters, naming it CHO cells, and the CHO-K1 cells are precisely a subclone of CHO. Because the most primitive CHO cells are proline-deficient and require proline addition to the culture system to support their growth (F-12K medium already contains 0.6 mM L-proline), all known CHO cell lines retain this trait. These cells are easily transfected and secrete very few endogenous proteins, making them widely used for in vitro expression of recombinant proteins and for viral infection experiments.
