3T3-Swiss albino Mouse Embryonic Fibroblasts

This cell line was first identified in 1962 by G. Todaro and H. Green established the findings from decomposed Swiss mouse embryos. Its growth characteristics are contact-inhibited, with a monolayer of cells of 40,000 cells/cm² and a saturation density of about 50,000 cells/cm². These cells may not grow well on glass surfaces and need to be stored in plastic culture flasks. Testing showed negative for ectromelia virus (ECTV).
