GC-1 spg Mouse spermatogonia

Mouse spermatogonia GC-1 spg is an epithelial cell line derived from the testes of 10-day-old male BALB/c mice. It is transformed by the plasmid pSV3-neo (containing SV40 macro T antigen and neomycin resistance) to immortalize type B spermatogonies, so the genome of this cell integrates with the SV40 viral DNA sequence. These cells exhibit characteristics of a stage between type B spermatogonia and primary spermatocytes, expressing testis-specific protein cytochrome CT and lactate dehydrogenase C4.
