SW 1783 [SW-1783, SW1783] Human brain astrocytoma cells

SW1783 was isolated from human interbrain degenerative astrocytoma tissue from a 68-year-old white male; SW1783 cells are a classic cell model derived from human grade III astrocytoma. Its p53 mutation and PTEN deletion genetic background make it a valuable tool for studying the malignant biological behavior, signaling pathway abnormalities, and development of new therapeutic strategies in high-grade gliomas. When using it, researchers must pay special attention to its specific requirements for the CO₂ environment to ensure normal cell growth. SW1783 belongs to Class III intermediate-grade gliomas, distinguished from Class IV glioblastoma cell lines such as U87MG (TCHU138) and LN1229TCHU244), serving as a key model for studying the malignant evolution of intermediate-grade gliomas. The SW1783 cell line is an important in vitro model for studying anaplastic astrocytoma, and its molecular characteristics resemble those of clinical tumor profiles, making it a powerful tool for translational medicine research.
