MES-SA Human uterine sarcoma cells

MES-SA is an epithelial cell line isolated from the uterus of a 56-year-old white female patient with uterine sarcoma. This cell line was established from surgical tumor specimens obtained from hysterectomy, forming the MES-SA cell line. This tumor is a poorly differentiated uterine sarcoma. Initially, cells grow on soft agar and later transfer to porous plates. Ultrastructural studies and the absence of muxin staining support the non-epidermal origin of this strain. Cells are sensitive to several chemotherapy agents, including: streptomycin, actinomycin D, mitomycin C, paclitaxel, and zhengmicomycin.
Cells are resistant to vincristine, nitroenzolid, cis-chloroplatin, levolytic sarcomacin, vincristine, methotrexate, and epipophylloxin (pyranglucoside). Multidrug resistance cell lines MES-SA/Dx5 were screened from MES-SA cell lines grown in the presence of streptomycin. Cell storage and freezing are supplied after P5 generation.
