KB Oral superficial epidermal carcinoma cells

KB is a cell line with epithelial morphology, initially thought to originate from oral epithelial carcinoma. However, subsequent isozyme-labeled analysis, HeLa-labeled chromosomes, and DNA fingerprint analysis revealed that this cell line contained HeLa-labeled chromosomes, and the origin cells obtained had been contaminated by HeLa. Keratin immunoperoxidase staining is positive. There are reports that KB cells contain the human papillomavirus 18 (HPV-18) sequence.
