Jurkat, Clone E6-1 Human leukemia T lymphocytes

The human leukemia T lymphocyte Jurkat line was established by Schneider from the peripheral blood of a 14-year-old boy diagnosed with acute T-cell leukemia and has been widely utilized in immunological and oncological research. Clone E6-1 is a subclone of the Jurkat-FHCRC cell line (a derivative of Jurkat). Upon induction with phorbol esters, exogenous lectins, or anti-T3 monoclonal antibodies (requiring co-induction of both agents), it produces substantial amounts of IL-2 and expresses T-cell receptors as well as CD3.
