The MDOK cell line, also known as Madin-Darby Ovine Kidney cells, is a spontaneously immortalized epithelial cell line isolated from renal tissue of an adult male sheep. These cells are highly susceptible to various viruses, including vesicular stomatitis virus, bovine infectious rhinotracheitis virus, and type 2 blue tongue virus, making them an ideal host for vaccine development. Additionally, they serve as a vital tool in virology, veterinary medicine, toxicology, and cell biology research.
