BS-C-1 African green monkey kidney cell

The African green monkey kidney cell line BS-C-1, also known as BSC-1, BSC1, or Biologics Standards-Cercopithecus-1, was established in 1961 as a spontaneously immortalized cell line isolated from the kidneys of African green monkeys and exhibits epithelioid morphology. Immunoperoxidase staining demonstrates keratin positivity, with a karyotype of 2n=60. Additionally, BS-C-1 cells serve as an ideal host for SV40 vector transfection and are sensitive to vesicular stomatitis virus, type 1 human poliovirus, and SV40 virus, making them widely used in viral diagnosis, detection, and research.
