MA-104 Clone 1 African green monkey kidney cell

The MA-104 Clone 1 cell line is a clone derived from African green monkey renal epithelial cells MA-104. MA-104 cells were initially isolated as an immortalized cell line from African green monkey embryonic kidney tissue through explant culture followed by enzymatic dissociation and subculture methods. Although originally thought to originate from rhesus monkeys, they were later identified and purified as a pure population of African green monkey cells, subsequently named MA-104 Clone 1. This cell line serves as an ideal transfection host and readily infects various viruses including rotavirus.
