TH1 Cells Are Derived From Primary Human Renal Proximal Tubular Epithelial Cells (RPTECs) And Immortalized By Two Lentiviral Vectors Carrying Human Telomerase (hTERT) And SV40 T Antigen (Tag). The HTERT And Tag Genes In Lentivirus Vectors Have LoxP Sites. Transient Cre Expression In TH1 Cells Results In The Deletion Of Effective Proviruses And The Upregulation Of Some Kidney Specific Activities. The Removal Of Immortalized Genes Will Also Significantly Reduce The Cell Proliferation Rate And Eventually Lead To Cell Senescence, Which Indicates That Although TH1 Cells Continue To Pass On In The Culture Medium, Their Cell Cycle Control Remains Intact.
