Products Description
Human mesangial cells UM-Chor1, also known as UM-CHOR-1, UMCHOR1, University of Michigan-Chordoma-1.
Human mesenteric cells UM-Chor1 were isolated in 2012 by Owen JH and colleagues at the University of Michigan from the slope of a 64-day-old white male diagnosed with choroidoma. This cell is the first known human chordoma cell line, exhibiting chordomat-like characteristics with typical chordomoma molecular, genetic, and morphological features. This cell is established from suprasellar lesions with solid, cystic, and hemorrhagic components. It extends along the slope into the sieve sinus. The resulting cultures were purified by flow cytometry, and the cell populations with neuronal adhesion molecule (NCAM) positive staining were expanded into UM-Chor1 cells. Chordoma is a rare and slow-growing tumor type, so UM-Chor1 grows relatively slowly. It has been reported that these cells express chorde-specific transcription factors T (brachyury) and CD34, which can form tumors in NOD/SCID mice. These cells can serve as useful tools for studying the diversity of primary tumors in the spinal cord.
