Retinal pericytes are a type of mural cell located on the basement membrane of retinal capillary endothelial cells, and they are an important component of the neurovascular unit. They are closely associated with endothelial cells and are widely involved in the development, stability, functional regulation, and pathological processes of retinal microvessels.
Tissue and Cell Type: Long梭形 (long梭形 can be translated as 'long spindle-shaped'), with cell bodies having protrusions that surround capillaries; some express alpha-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and have contractile ability.
