Products Description
Astrocytes are a type of glial cell, the largest of the glia, with a stellate cytosol and a large, rounded or oval nucleus that stains lightly. Many protrusions extend from the cytosol, of which several thicker protrusions are expanded at the end, called the footplate, attached to the capillary wall, or attached to the surface of the brain and spinal cord to form a glial boundary membrane. This cell is the most numerous of the glial cells and is multifunctional. One of its important functions is to participate in the metabolism of neurotransmitters. In addition, astrocytes are important for ionic homeostasis in the central nervous system and normal development of the nervous system. This cell was derived from SD rat/wistar rat.
