Products Description

PA-1 [PA1] cells were isolated and successfully established in the ascites of a 12-year-old white female patient with malignant ovarian teratomic cancer, established by BC Giovanella. These cells can form tightly bound colonies, and under conditions such as low serum concentration, low inoculation density, or treatment with 5-Bromo-2'-deoxyuridine, PA-1 [PA1] cells can proliferate and differentiate into an embryoid body, expressing the embryonic antigen PCC4, but no F9 expression was detected. These cells express various embryonic stem cell-related markers, such as Oct4, Nanog, SSEA-4, as well as tumor markers like AFP and CA125, and simultaneously carry activated N-ras oncogenes, as well as resistance and tumor progression-related markers like MDR1 (multidrug resistance protein) and CD44, showing tumorigenicity in nude mice. As a classic model for ovarian malignant germ cell tumors, PA-1 [PA1] cells are mainly used to study tumorigenesis, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and tumor stem cell characteristics. The pluripotency markers they express make them ideal models for studying differentiation and pluripotency induction mechanisms.
