NCI-H526 Small cell lung cancer cells

It has been reported that two small cell lung cancer biochemical markers in NCI-H526 cells—neuron-specific enolase and brain-type creatine kinase isoenzyme—have higher expression levels. Does not express levodopa carboxylase or bombesin-like immunoreactivity. These cells express c-kit genes and N-myc genes, but do not express c-myc or L-myc. N-myc was amplified, and p75 c-myb expression was observed. NCI-H526 also expresses proto-oncogenes N-ras, Ki-ras, Ha-ras, and c-raf1. Only trace amounts of retinoblastoma susceptibility gene RB mRNA were detected. No RB protein was detected. Compared to the expression level in normal lungs, these cells have higher p53 mRNA expression. There are abnormally sized mRNAs. Reportedly, the cell had a colony formation efficiency of 4.2% in soft agarose. Additionally, these cells grow in large amounts of suspended clusters, making survival rates impossible to measure. During routine culture, the culture medium usually contains a large amount of cell debris that is almost impossible to remove, which is normal. Bispecific antibodies can also be added to the medium to prevent bacterial contamination.
