C918 Human eye choroidal melanoma cells

The C918 cell line is a human ocular choroid melanoma cell line, derived from human melanoma (uveal melanoma in women aged 60) and is the cell line used at the metastatic site of the patient. The C918 cell line is widely used to study models associated with melanoma, including their growth patterns, metastatic potential, and responses to therapeutic drugs. C918 cells transplanted into immunodeficient mice exhibit tumorigenicity, exhibiting high proliferation rates and resistance to apoptosis in vitro, and are widely used in the study of cellular signaling pathways related to melanoma progression. According to reports, STR testing revealed that three human invasive choroidal melanoma cells—C918, M619, and Mum-2B—share the same genetic background, suggesting cross-contamination.
