LMH cells

LMH is a primary hepatocellular carcinoma epithelial cell line established by Tomoyuki Kitagawa in 1981 at the Cancer Research Institute, Kami-Ikebukuro, Tokyo Metropolitan Island, Japan. Long-term treatment of long legged horned chickens with diethylnitrosamine induced tumour nodules in their livers. The morphology of the cells was dendritic. The cells expressed glucose-6-phosphatase and weak tubular ATPase activity. These cells form tumours in thymus-free nude mice.LMH cells contain low levels of functional oestrogen receptors and induce expression of the liver-specific apolipoprotein II (apoII) gene. This cell line can be used for transfection studies.

Note: Culture consumables for culturing this cell need to be coated with 0.1% gelatin or with matrix gel.

Gas phase: air, 95%; Carbon dioxide, 5%. Temperature: 37 ℃.

Freezing conditions: basic medium+5% DMSO+20% FBS (SD0200)
