Satellite cell immortalization of porcine skeletal muscle

Skeletal myoblasts are one of the largest cells in human and animal bodies, and they are multinucleated cells fused from myoblasts. Therefore, the formation of skeletal muscle is a very complex process and requires the involvement of multiple cell signalling pathways, including phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase, calcineurin, STAT3 and MAPK, among others. Primary skeletal muscle cell culture is an effective model to study the cell differentiation process.
